MHC General Manager, Golden Matiya said his corporation in its drive to construct houses in key centres of the country had acquired 20 plots to build 20 three-bedroom houses in the town. He said the corporation was currently building houses in other regions of the country. He said MHC would look for funds to build 20 three-bedroom houses at the World Inland Port of Nsanje. "Once we have finished building houses in other regions, we'll go to Nsanje," Matiya told Malawi News Agency in an interview. _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________

Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban development, Hon John Bande and Hon Deputy Minister, Hon Billy Kaunda, visited the MHC head Office on their familiarization tour. _______________________________________________________________________ THE UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI, NANDOLO STUDENTS HOSTEL IN ZOMBA The construction of the University students’ hostel at Nandolo in Zomba is completed and students have started occupying the Hostel. This is a 132 bed hostel for both male and female occupants. The hostel was constructed at the cost of 150 Million Kwacha, excluding loan interest. _______________________________________________________________________
Malawi Housing Corporation has handed over a brand new grader to its Technical Department to accelerate service delivery which includes plot delivery, house construction and maintenance. _______________________________________________________________________ PRE-SALE FACILITY Malawi Housing Corporation has recently ventured into a pre-sale facility under the build and sale programme. Under this product offering, the Corporation will provide land and technical expertise in the whole process of construction and deliver within agreed period. The customer is expected to pay upfront for the construction. _______________________________________________________________________ LONG SERVING MEMBERS OF STAFF AWARDED The Corporation this year awarded its long serving employees in all the 5 regions. These employees were 89 in total. They have served from 15 years, 20 years, 25 years, and 33 years as the longest serving period. The ceremonies took place in all the Regions and were graced by the General Manager, HRM, PRO, Regional Managers and their entire regional management and staff. _______________________________________________________________________ MHC TO REDUCE ACCOMMODATION PROBLEMS Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) has stepped up efforts to reduce accommodation problems by embarking on a house construction project in the all three regions of the country. _______________________________________________________________________
Malawi Housing Corporation has paid K20.7million compensation to squatters who encroached the Corporation’s land in Blantyre Chigumula area where it intends to develop 236 plots. MHC General Manager Goldon Matiya told the Budget and Finance Committee of Parliament in Lilongwe that his organization under the leadership of the District Commissioner (DC) engaged the squatters and convinced them to vacate the land. _______________________________________________________________________ MALAWI HOUSING CORPORATION BUDGET UP 356% Malawi Housing Corporation has a K16billion budget for the year 2009/10 representing a 356 percent rise from the previous year’s K3.5billion budget. This was revealed in a report which the General Manager of MHC Golden Matiya presented to the budget and Finance Committee of Parliament on 7th October. According to the report 95 percent of the allocation will be spent on development expenditure while five percent will be used for overheads. _______________________________________________________________________ MALAWI HOUSING CORPORATION WEARS A NEW FACE In an effort to spruce its image and improve service delivery, the Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) is clamping down on corrupt practices within the public enterprise.
