Malawi housing Corporation is a statutory body established in 1964 under the Malawi Housing Corporation Act (Chapter 32:02 of the Laws of Malawi). It is wholly owned by Government  and it  is mandated and responsible for;

i. Management of houses and housing estates

ii. Development and construction of houses and housing estates

iii. Building of premises other than dwelling houses where such premises are considered by the Corporation to contribute to the improvement or development of housing estates

iv. Acquiring and disposing of interests in movable property

v. Purchase, holding, managing, leasing or otherwise disposing of any interest in or attaching to land.

vi. Makeing loans to people for the construction of dwelling houses

vii. Entering into agreement with contractors or agents for the development, construction, maintenance or supervision of houses or housing estate

viii. Doing much other things as necessary , incidental or conducive to the performance of the forgoing powers.
